MJPS Seeks 7.43 Percent Operating Budget Increase
The cost of policing Moose Jaw is expensive and if the budget presented to the Moose Jaw Board of Police Commissioners by the Moose Jaw Police Service is approved it’s going up 7.43 percent in 2025 from 2024 - higher than the present 2.3 percent inflation rate.
The budget will see operating expenditures increase by $1,907,571 or 13.47 percent from $14,158,410 in 2024 to $16,066,981 in 2025.
The $16,066,981 operating expenditures will be offset by budgeted revenues in 2025 of $2,911,207 to equal a net operating budget of $13,155,774.
The $2,911,207 budgeted revenues is a $997,700 or a 52.14 percent increase from 2024 when budgeted revenues was $1,913,507.
2025 Moose Jaw Police Service Operating Budget
The $16,066,981 2025 operating budget when offset by the $1,913,507 budgeted revenues leaves the MJPS seeking a $13,155,774 net operating budget from the City.
The increase is equal to 7.43 percent in the 2025 net operating budget of $13,155,774 from the 2024 net operating budget of $12,459,03.
