Sask Horse Federation Show Finals This Weekend
The Saskatchewan Horse Federation is hosting the Heritage Circuit Provincial Finals this Friday (September 20th) to Sunday (September 22nd) at the Golden Mile Arena on the Moose Jaw Exhibition Grounds - 250 Thatcher Drive East.
“Horses and riders from around the province have qualified to compete here for some pretty awesome prizes,” Shirley Mawson chair of the event said.
Horses and riders have previously competed at smaller regional shows in order to qualify to compete in Moose Jaw.
The show will consist of a wide variety of equine events, Mawson said.
“Western, English, jumping, gymkanas, barrel racing and dressage is here. There is a little bit of everything,” Mawson said.
She estimated well over 100 people are in Moose Jaw for the show.
Riders are in a wide variety of ages starting from the youngest 8 years old to the oldest at 75 years of age.
The show runs from 9 am on Friday until about suppertime and on Saturday and Sunday the show starts at 8 am and runs until about suppertime.
The event is FREE to attend.
She did however request anyone coming to take in the show to please refrain from bringing dogs. The reason is safety as the horses may become nervous and spooked.
The concession will be open.
Please note with the on-going construction on Thatcher Drive East the temporary access is through the north gate located on Diefenbaker Drive. The entrance is just east of the main gate to the Western Development Museum.
